LA MESA POST 282 BY-LAWS ARTICLE XIV - APPOINTMENTS
Section 1. The Post Commander, immediately upon taking office, each year shall appoint a Membership Committee, a Budget and Finance Committee, and a House Committee. Additional committees may be appointed as shall be found necessary. Standing committees shall consist of such number of members as may be determined by the Post and the chairman. Members shall be designated by the Post Commander.
Section 2. Membership Committee – Shall have charge of all matters pertaining to the membership of the Post, including procuring of all new members, reinstatement and eligibility of members, subject to approval by the Post. The chairman for this committee shall be the First Vice Commander
Section 3. Budget and Finance Committee – Shall be charged with the administration of the financial policy, preparation of an annual budget with recommendations and supervision of receiving, disbursing, and accounting of all Post funds. The chairman for this committee shall be the Commander
Section 4. House Committee – Shall be charged with the responsibility to procure and maintain a House Manager, monitor operation of the business aspect of the House, i.e., bar operation, hall rental, physical building maintenance, ensuring compliance with Post By-laws and local and state regulations and laws. Guidance for operation of the House shall be in compliance with The American Legion Post Operations Manual and Post Building Guide. The chairman for this committee shall be the Second Vice Commander.
ARTICLE IX - MANAGEMENT
Section 3. The Post Commander shall appoint a Budget and Finance committee of three (3) members. This committee shall formulate a Budget for the operation of the Post for the fiscal year, and present this budget to the Board of Directors for approval at the November Board meeting. This committee shall recommend accounting procedures and investment policies.
